Hood Canal Cabin

A past client bought a waterfront property along the Hood Canal as a vacation home for family and friends. The goal was to replace the old existing home with a contemporary style cabin that takes advantage of the wonderful view of the water. The homeowner, being an engineer, also wanted a bridge from the upper floor of the main building to the detached dorm/ rec room above the garage. The cabin was designed with a two story picture window and a stone fireplace. The view can be seen from almost every room in the cabin. It is an open plan that uses ceiling heights, beams, and wall bump outs to define the individual spaces while maintaining visual connection. The main attraction is the stone fire pit by the water, enhanced by the roasting of s’mores among friends.
